Technical / Commercial Project Manager

Identifying and developing technical projects and solutions for our customers, our Technical Development and Delivery team is made up of energy specialists to deliver realised energy-saving projects. We work closely with our Energy Management and Sales teams to take the customer from the beginning of their journey to the end, ensuring we deliver the best energy solutions. We offer all types of solutions to our customers, including Solar, Battery, Lighting and combine heat & power plants, to name a few.

Nurturing relationships within a number of key accounts, you’ll have ownership of the full end to end lifecycle journey, from the concept of the technical energy solution through to delivery. Through using data and insight of our customers' sites, or direct customer requirements, you’ll undertake site visits to understand the customer’s requirements, take it away and develop a solution. The full lifecycle will include concept design, understanding the paybacks to both us and the customer, how feasible the proposed solution is for the customer site through to detailed design and delivery. You’ll work across multi-discipline projects for both mechanical and electrical, so you’ll need a technical understanding of both, to enable you to identify the best possible solution.

Not only will you have the technical capability and understanding but you’ll have a commercial acumen and be able to talk numbers with our customers executive board, who will have the ultimate decision on investing the capital funding for the project. Understanding commercial models and using both simple and complex cash flow summaries, depending on customer requirements so they can understand exactly what their paybacks will be for that project.

Whether you’re attending site visits, joining our sales team with customer pitches or talking numbers with board level executives, you’ll have the customer at heart. You’ll be flexible and adaptable in your approach to reflect your audience and continue to build relationships with your customer base.

 

Required skills and experience

  • Mechanical and/or Electrical (MNE) background in projects
  • Knowledge of PV, Solar, CHP, Battery Storage, LED Lighting
  • Strong commercial understanding and knowledge of how to build financial models
  • Ability to build on strong relationships both internally and externally, for both customers and suppliers
  • Technical capability including either Electrical/Mechanical qualifications or proven working experience
  • Experience of project development
  • Have passion and drive with a dedicated attitude and be self-motivated and a standout colleague
  • H&S qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH, CSCS) and experience managing H&S
  • Experience of working on customer sites
