Corporate Legal Counsel

Role description

 

 

  • A vacancy has arisen for a lawyer in the Innogy/RWE Renewables legal team. It is expected that the applicant will have acquired significant legal experience either in-house or within a commercial legal practice.
  • The role is for an experienced lawyer to provide legal support and advice to Innogy/RWE’s renewable energy business which includes onshore and offshore wind, solar and battery storage.
  • The role will be very hands on and the applicant will be required to handle a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. The role is likely to involve advising on all aspects of corporate transactions and matters including drafting, reviewing and negotiating corporate and commercial agreements including sale and purchase agreements, business sale agreements, joint venture agreements, partnering arrangements, financing documents, confidentiality and exclusivity agreements and other similar agreements.
  • The role will be based in Swindon but is likely to have an international dimension with some travel, both within the UK and overseas.

 

Required skills and experience

 

  • The applicant must be a qualified solicitor or barrister.
  • The applicant should have experience in the field or mergers and acquisitions and will be required to advise on a broad range of corporate and commercial agreements. Energy related experience is advantageous but not essential to apply for the role.
  • The applicant will require strong drafting skills and good commercial acumen.
  • The role will also involve the instruction and management of external lawyers from time to time.
  • The applicant must have a high degree of flexibility, self-motivation and the confidence and ability to work unsupervised and in a proactive manner.
  • The applicant must have the ability to deliver high quality legal advice in a commercial context. The applicant will need to be comfortable briefing senior management on significant legal issues as and when they arise.
  • The role will require a good deal of team working so the applicant will need to have good communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to manage and get on with a broad range of people.
