Role: Junior GIS Engineer/Analyst Wind Offshore

 

Scope of work:

 

The Offshore ASSET OPTIMISATION team (ANB-WEA) exists to support  our offshore development, construction and operational projects with a full range of technical analysis and design services. The team has an integral role in the identification and development of global Offshore projects and developing new markets.

 

The GIS team within ASSET OPTIMISATION supports these projects by providing data management, processing, visualization and spatial analysis services – as well as the provision of interactive web-based GIS applications. Working with our onshore wind business we also maintain and develop our enterprise GIS system -  “InnoGIS”. Our platforms include ESRI ArcGIS, FME and  Synergis WebOffice.

 

As a JUNIOR GIS Analyst you will support a variety of global offshore wind farm projects throughout their life-cycle stages, meeting their requirements for GIS services (e.g. data management, data processing, analysis, visualization etc.) with your analytical and spatial skills. Furthermore, you will

have an integral role in developing our GIS services, systems and workflows – as both you and our team grow”.

 

Requirements:

 

Your tasks and responsibilities:

 

  • Provision of GIS services to individual projects throughout their life-cycle. This includes, but is not limited to, processing of datasets from a variety of sources, the management, analysis and visualization of this spatial data;
  • Maintenance and development of interactive web applications for offshore projects in alignment with the project-specific customer requirements;
  • Supporting the Senior GIS Engineer in the context of efficient management of geodatabases
  • Develop and implement software solutions and processes that optimize our management, analysis and visualisation of spatial data;
  • Collaboration and implementation of processes to standardize services from the GIS team  across projects. Further improvement of standard operating procedures with regards to data management, data analysis and visualization under consideration of “lessons learnt” and implementation of improvement opportunities;
  • Teamwork – working with the team / offshore division to achieve our targets – and align with our division strategy;
  • Personal Development – identity opportunities and undertake training to enhance your GIS career and skill-sets.

 

 

Skills required for this position:

 

  • Degree in GIS, GeoInformatics or Geosciences – or
  • Degree in Engineering/Marine or related Sciences (with a GIS component);
  • Knowledge and ideally initial experience in managing GIS projects using desktop GIS software;
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm for, or experience in the marine or renewable sectors;
  • Knowledge in the application of server-based GIS incl. multiuser working environments web application development / configuration (esp. ESRI products) is desirable;
  • Knowledge of data management procedures;
  • Knowledge of the design and implementation of automated GIS processes Knowledge in a programming language - ideally Python - is desired;
  • Knowledge and preferably experience in the use of ArcGIS extensions/plugins and other GIS/CAD software packages (QGIS, AutoCAD);
  • Customer focus, good management skills including organisational ability and a target oriented, proactive approach to work and the ability to prioritize;
  • Creative problem solving skills and an agile mindset;
  • Good communication, team working  and interpersonal skills;
  • Robust language skills in written and spoken English are required (knowledge of German is a plus);
