Revenue Accountant

Role description


The main purpose of the role is to ensure the results of the Innogy Renewables UK Group revenues are accurate and are free from material misstatements.

 Key Responsibilities are to ensure:

  • Innogy Renewables UK Group revenue is recorded and reported accurately in line with the Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and Route to Market Agreements (RTMA);
  • Revenue is recorded accurately, and the revenue recording process is fully controlled with risks appropriately mitigated;
  • Clear communication throughout the RWE/Innogy value chain is maintained and fostered (e.g. RWEST);
  • Gross margins reported within legal entities are reasonable and agree to the data and commentary provided by the commercial team;
  • Revenue is invoice on a timely basis and in line with requirements of each PPA;
  • Project accountants are up-to-date with commercial changes associated with revenue generation; and
  • A close working relationship is maintained with the Commercial Asset Management team.



Required skills and experience


Technical skills

  • Familiar with financial statements and accounting principles
  • Qualified Accountant with recognised body e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA
  • Analytical and detail conscious
  • Accounting experience ideally within a large Company/Group environment
  • Ability to deal with complexity, keeping up to date with Commercial developments in a changing environment


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to liaise with both finance and non-finance colleagues up to Senior management level
  • Ability to present financial information using appropriate media to senior management
  • Ability to deal with confidential material in an appropriate manner
  • Ability to challenge work of others in an effective but sensitive manner
  • Ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to balance requirements of multiple stakeholders

Commercial awareness

  • Relevant industry experience preferred
  • Understanding of electricity market in the UK and challenges that face the renewable energy industry
  • Awareness of Innogy group

IT skills

  • Knowledge of SAP (preferred)
  • Advanced excel skills required
