HS&E Manager Sofia

innogy Renewables is currently seeking to appoint a dynamic and experienced HS&E Manager for the development and construction of its Offshore Windfarm Sofia.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will manage a team of HS&E professionals through all phases of the project, both onshore and offshore, setting and driving the strategy and key deliverables.

Excellent skills in leadership, risk management, audit and compliance will be essential for this role and the successful person will be able to communicate and influence at all levels.

Experience of working in a high risk, high value and complex environment is essential and experience of working in construction environments where multiple contractors are engaged is key. Experience of working within an Offshore Wind role would be beneficial.

 

Role description

 

  • Member of the senior management team on a high profile national infrastructure project, helping to champion our Safety First culture in all project activities
  • Lead a team of HS&E professionals through all phases of the project
  • Compliance with all relevant Legislation and Standards, engagement with Regulatory bodies such as HSE and MCA who set such Legislation and Standards
  • Implement innogy’s H&S Management System and IT based tools for incident reporting and investigation and risk assessment
  • With the Project Management Team, identify risks and appropriate mitigation measures
  • Participate in HAZIDs and HAZOBs as required
  • Active engagement with Main Contractors and the supply chain to promote and drive H&S Performance and seek continuous improvement
  • Ensuring that innogy’s reputation as a leader in Health & Safety is visibly promoted
  • Ensuring that the Project Management Team and innogy’s Central HS&E Team are informed of H&S performance and potential areas for improvement
  • Set leading and lagging targets and objectives which are risk based and fully transparent
  • Promote and increase near miss reporting and hazard spotting to allow credible analysis of project and company risk
  • Compliance with all relevant Legislation and Standards, engagement with Regulatory bodies such as HSE and MCA who set such Legislation and Standards

 

 

Required skills and experience

 

  • Extensive experience of high level H&S Management in a high risk, complex and demanding environment
  • Expert knowledge in H&S management systems, risk identification and mitigation strategies
  • The ability to influence, and successfully communicate at any level
  • Experience of setting risk based strategy in a highly complex and demanding environment
  • The ability to organise and work with teams of professionals from within all areas of the BU and the supply chain
  • Have a recognised H&S qualification; (NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ Level 5 or equivalent qualification), an additional Environmental qualification would be advantageous
  • Chartered Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, or working towards chartership
  • Experience of working in multi-contract, high value, high risk construction and operations in heavy industry, rail, power, oil and gas, marine or renewables is essential
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • An appreciation of renewables technology and the constraints this places on site design, construction, operations and maintenance processes would be beneficial
  • The ability to develop and maintain contacts outside of the Project and the wider industry

This role would be based in Swindon.

 

There will be an expectation to travel to other offices and sites outside of your base location (including Europe/Overseas) which may involve overnight stays
