Finance Manager - Joint Ventures

Role description

 

The role focusses on the accounting and financial management of one or more offshore wind projects in the Innogy Renewables UK accounting team, working closely with the financial controlling and project teams. The role includes overseeing the production of joint venture management accounts, statutory accounts and financial reports, and being the key contact for investors on all aspects of financial management. The position provides invaluable exposure to joint venture boards of directors and external investing parties at a project level, while benefiting from the support of an established multinational energy company.

Innogy is currently developing and operating several offshore sites around the UK as the lead party in joint ventures. During 2020, Innogy Renewables and E.ON Climate Change and Renewables will form the new RWE Renewables to become the fourth largest renewable energy generator globally, with significant plans for investment in the UK and abroad.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Preparation and reporting of monthly formal management accounts under IFRS to joint venture shareholders including Innogy and external investors.

 

  • Financial reporting to Innogy group.

 

  • Preparing project company statutory accounts, and coordinating their distribution, external audit and signing by the board of directors.

 

  • Proactively communicating with Innogy Renewables management and external investors on the subject of project financial management, mostly relating, but not limited, to accounting matters.

 

  • Attend and present information and recommendations at joint venture management and board meetings where necessary. This covers financial results, accounting decisions and proposals, and cash and dividend planning. This will involve communicating with a range of stakeholders based in the UK and abroad.

 

  • Ensure that funding is in place for development projects and develop cash distribution forecasts for operating projects.

 

  • Manage and implement change in project accounting – incorporating new accounting standards, implementing new systems where necessary, and dealing with any contractual changes to revenue streams or shareholders’ agreements.

 

Required skills and experience

 

 

Education and qualifications

- Fully qualified accountant: ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA

- Degree-level education preferred

Work experience

- Accounting experience ideally in a medium or large organisation

- Post-qualification work experience desirable

Skills and abilities

- Good verbal and written communication skills - presenting and influencing at senior management level

- Ability to understand the interests of other stakeholders – particular external investors

- Ability to manage time effectively and self-organise

- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel

- Experience in interpreting and applying IFRS

- Proficiency in ERP / Accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle etc. desirable

- Familiarity with company statutory accounts preparation or audit desirable

- Relevant industry experience desirable but not necessary
