Tax Associate






Innogy Renewables US is seeking a Tax Associate to assume a key role on the Company’s financial team and assist the Tax Manager with the company’s tax compliance, tax reporting (under US GAAP and IFRS) and tax planning, including tax equity partnership arrangements.

How will you support us as a Tax Associate?

  • Ensurement of appropriate internal controls being in place over accounting for income taxes
  • Accounting for income taxes and reconciliation of all tax accounts at the corporate and project level
  • Preparation of the tax provision, including:
    • Accuracy and adequacy of income tax provisions,
    • Reconciliation of all income tax related accounts including documentation of all cumulative temporary differences and tax attributes,
    • Financial statement footnotes, and
    • Review of the provision with the external audit firm.
  • Preparation of quarterly Hypothetical Liquidation at Book Value or HLBV calculations
  • Perform required tax research as needed for tax related matters and/or income tax accounting matters and treatment of such items and document conclusions
  • Establishment of tax compliance routine for each legal entity within the corporate structure, including the management of the capital accounts for each legal entity
  • Completion of tax workpapers for use in the completion of federal, state, and local income, franchise, and capital stock returns
  • Completion of sales and use, rent tax, and other such tax returns including all related analysis and support as needed
  • Preparation of all income, franchise, capital stock, sales and use, rent tax, and other such quarterly tax estimates and extensions
  • Assistance with tax audits, for federal, state, and local tax jurisdictions
  • Assistance with special projects, as assigned, including identification and implementation of tax planning opportunities and evaluating emerging tax issues and their potential impact to the company along with related accounting treatment
  • Research of federal, state, and local tax matters (primarily but not exclusively related to property taxes, state grant compliance, and PTC and/or ITC eligibility) for future projects including acquisitions and internally developed projects
  • Maintain of both real and personal property tax records, preparation of property tax filings and returns, corresponding with state and local assessors and tax collectors when required and coordinating timely payment of property taxes
  • Review of agreements for PILOTS, Host Payments, Impact Fees, Development Fees, and other such tax agreements with local authorities to assure proper compliance and payment
  • Support colleagues from across the organization with tax related inquiries, work closely with peers from the company finance organization


What do you ideally bring to the role?

  • CPA with a minimum 2-5 years of experience in either a Big 4 or large regional CPA firm
  • Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Must have solid corporate and partnership tax experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • BS in Accounting or other Finance-related major
  • Wind energy project development, Solar energy project development, power industry and / or real estate partnership experience helpful
  • Experience with Hypothetical Liquidation at Book Value or HLBV method of accounting or modeling helpful
  • Experience with partnership flip structures helpful
