Offshore Wind Mechanical Engineer - Gwynt Y Mor

Role description

 

  • You will provide engineering support to the wind farm operations, covering 160 wind turbines, foundations, array cables and a 24hr control facility.
  • You will act as technical lead for all offshore mounting structures and rotating equipment including WTG towers, blades, bearings and offshore foundations
  • You will develop and manage inspection campaigns to the continued asset integrity of major components such as blades, main bearings, foundation and davit cranes.
  • Alongside this you will be required to make critical decisions to protect long term asset integrity and where possible optimise the wind farm revenue.

 

Required skills and experience

 

  • Engineer experienced in a power generation or heavy industry environment,
  • BEng or MEng preferred.  HNC with sufficient experience will be considered,  
  • Analytical approach to problem solving,
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage specialists on complex operations,
  • Process driven with an interest in continuous improvement,
  • Experience of managing budgets and contractors,
  • Flexible due to the nature of the offshore environment,
  • Comfortable inspecting components offshore, often while working at height or in restricted spaces,
  • Comfortable working in an office environment, assessing large quantities of multidisciplinary engineering information to provide solutions via reports and presentations.
