Apprenticeship Wind Turbine Technician Grimsby/Mostyn

Location: Mostyn (North Wales) for College and allocated to Triton Knoll Wind Farm, Grimsby

Recruitments: 5 GCSE’s at 4/C or above including Science and Maths (or equivalent)

Salary:

Year 1 - £13,500

Year 2 - £16,500

Year 3 - £19,500

 

Innogy Renewables UK Ltd are offering the opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to join our growing O&M Team at Triton Knoll Offshore Windfarm, and begin an exciting career in the growing renewable energy sector. We offer an excellent 3-year apprenticeship scheme which will enable the successful candidates to develop into fully qualified Wind Turbine Technicians. Initially you will be placed at a bespoke Wind Turbine training facility at Llandrillo College, Rhos on Sea in North Wales.

 

In the 3rd year you will be placed at the Triton Knoll Offshore Windfarm working from our state-of the-art Service Offshore Vessel (SOV) on a 2 week on / 2 week off rotation to complete your turbine specific technical training and gain the required competencies.

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

 

We will provide a comprehensive and well supported learning programme including classroom-based learning and hands on experience; at site working within an existing technician team.  On competition on your apprenticeship you will have achieved an NVQ level 3 qualification in Wind Turbine Operations and Maintenance and a Level 3 diploma in Wind Turbine Maintenance.You will have gained foundation knowledge and skills in electrical, mechanical and hydraulic engineering and learnt the application to wind turbines.

 

As a member of one of our Wind Turbine Technician teams you will learn to carry out all aspects of wind turbine maintenance including Scheduled, Unscheduled, Retrofit and Major Component Exchanges on specific wind turbines types.

 

You will ensure that our large portfolio of Offshore Windfarms continue to deliver clean energy to UK household, businesses and contribute to reducing UK CO² emissions. 

 

If you are interested in working on advanced machinery in the challenging North Sea offshore environment then once trained you will be working with sometimes heavy, complex mechanical and electrical equipment. This will require you to also demonstrate a solid commitment to Health, Safety and the environment in all aspects of your work

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • 5 GCSE’s at 4/C or above including Science, English and Maths (or equivalent)

 

  • Willing to learn and develop

 

  • Interested in an Engineering career.

 

  • Aptitude for working a height

 

  • Aptitude for working at sea from service vessel

 

  • Team Player

 

  • Be committed to a safety-first culture

 

  • Must be willing to work shifts and away from home location.

 

You will be expected during the first 2 years to study full time at Llandrillo College Rhos-on-Sea in North Wales.

During non-term time you will be expected to attend site at Grimsby

 

Your accommodation will be in a secure serviced apartment local to the College Campus and provide by Innogy. You will also receive an allowance for travel to / from your home location once a month.

 

 

Wind Turbine Technician Apprenticeship (x4)

 

Innogy Renewables UK are offering the opportunity for motivated individuals to begin a career in renewable energy with us. This excellent 3 year apprentice scheme will enable the selected candidates to develop into technicians working on wind turbines.

The first 2 year’s will be class room / workshop based at a bespoke Wind Turbine training facility at Llandrillo College, Rhos-on-Sea in North Wales.

 

The 3rd year will consist of on-site training at one of our state of the art operational wind farm’s around the UK.
