Operational Controller Triton Knoll

Innogy develops, builds and operates offshore wind farms along the coasts of several European countries. Our extensive project pipeline includes wind farms totalling over 4GW. Projects are constructed on a multi-contract basis with Innogy taking an active involvement in all engineering aspects.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated Operational Controllers to join our Operations and Maintenance team at our Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm project based in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, UK.

 

Working as part of a team that operate and maintain the Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm  which consists of 90 MHI Vestas v164-9.5 wind turbines, associated High Voltage infrastructure and balance of plant assets.

 

You will be responsible for coordinating marine and second line emergency response coordination, you will act as a Wind Turbine Safety Rules Operational Controller and appointed Issuer under Innogy High Voltage Safety Rules; you will ensure that all safety rules and statutory legislation is adhered to and applied to plant operations and maintenance. You will also operate and proactively monitor the turbines, balance of plant and grid high voltage systems from a state-of-the-art control centre. You will contribute to operating the wind farm with a high focus on health and safety whilst optimising production through continual improvement.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities

 

  • Work closely with the Operations and Production Managers
  • Plant control, operation and monitoring of apparatus
  • Dealing with instructions and commands from National Grid (BOA)
  • Analysis of weather data and coordination with other stakeholders
  • Management of CMMS (SAP) and associated works control systems
  • Marine management
  • Emergency response coordination
  • Controlling access of staff and contractors at all on/offshore site locations
  • Understanding all Health, Safety and Environmental considerations within the role
  • Contribute to a positive safety culture

 

 

Person Specification

 

  • Excellent MS O365 and CMMS (SAP) knowledge, with the ability to quickly learn internal company systems
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to work and be prepared to work alone or as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and cross functional working
  • Have a working knowledge of plant control and monitoring systems
  • Good commercial and electricity trading awareness
  • Knowledge of the British Electricity Trading and Transmission Arrangements (BETTA)
  • Have the capacity to manage a demanding and fluctuating workload
  • Demonstrate a good level of numeracy and literacy skills
  • Assist other team members as required and promote high quality working within a team environment
  • Work to a high standard with minimal supervision and maintain quality under peak workloads
  • Own and work towards fulfilling an agreed personal development plan and demonstrate a willingness to learn

 

Skills & Experience:

 

  • Experience in similar control room, marine coordination role or engineer background with Wind Turbine or High Voltage Safety Rules authorisation
  • Knowledge and experience of safety rules systems both Wind Turbine and High Voltage Safety Rules.
  • Familiar with original equipment manufacturer maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of the wind industry would be an advantage but not necessary as training will be provided
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible approach to working hours as we operate the wind farm 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Knowledge and experience of electronic maintenance management systems
